SPECIAL OLYMPICS FUNDRAISER

CHARACTER

The Epsilon Iota Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa at the University of Central Missouri embodies the fraternity’s cardinal principle of character through active community involvement, personal integrity, and support for philanthropic initiatives.

One of the chapter’s key contributions is its partnership with the Special Olympics, where members volunteer their time and effort to support athletes with intellectual disabilities, fostering inclusivity and compassion. Through these activities, along with mentorship programs and leadership development, the chapter cultivates a culture of ethical conduct and mutual respect.

This commitment to character not only strengthens the brotherhood but also positively impacts the local community, reflecting the enduring values of Phi Sigma Kappa.

HISTORY

The Epsilon Iota Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa at the University of Central Missouri traces its origins to 1929 when it was founded as a local fraternity, Phi Kappa Alpha.

Over time, the fraternity grew in prominence and later affiliated with Phi Sigma Epsilon, a national fraternity founded in 1910. In 1985, Phi Sigma Epsilon merged with Phi Sigma Kappa, marking the largest Greek-letter fraternity merger in history.

As a result, the chapter at UCM adopted the name Epsilon Iota, preserving its traditions while embracing its new national identity. Today, the chapter continues to uphold the values of brotherhood, scholarship, and character, maintaining a strong presence on campus and within the Greek community.
